1) Where the Wild Things Are is based on the story book for young children and so the film would appeal to the older people who remember reading the story nostalgically and also a young audience who are enjoying the story for the first time. The film also has a contemporary soundtrack and was advertised heavily by the music media so the film would also attract young music lovers.
2) The film is made for children but some of the more subtle underlying themes of the film make it also enjoyable for older people too.
3) The film is based on the classic children’s picture book published in 1963. Production companies had wanted to make the film for years using digital animation but never thought that the technology they had available would do the book justice eventually Spike Jonze began work on the film as the director using a mix of real life acting and CGI techniques. This method makes the film look stylishly magical.
